Hopefully all landlords and tenants out there are aware of the Oregon law that went into effect July 1st of this year that requires carbon monoxide alarms in all rental properties. As of April 1, 2011, home buyers and sellers need to be aware that all one and two family homes, manufactured homes, and multifamily housing must contain one or more functioning carbon monoxide alarms before conveying fee title or transferring possession. As of April 1, 2011, all new construction and renovation that requires a building permit will also be required to have the alarms.
