Click on the image below to find a link to the most recent update/report for the Lake Oswego to Portland Transit Project. For those of you unfamiliar with the project, it is a controversial transportation project that hopes to provide increased public transport between Portland and Lake Oswego. The most controversial issues have been how to provide the transportation (bus, streetcar, do nothing, river transit, widen Hwy 43), how much it will cost, and who will pay for it.
The options outlined in this most recent report detail the ridership numbers expected, who will pay for it, and operation costs for the three most viable options, which are 1) no build - do nothing 2) enhanced bus route options and 3) streetcar, which has a number of different route options including using the existing Willamette Shore Line or Macadam Ave.
The next step of the project will be the public process that includes a 45-day public comment period (we are already into the 45-days). I highly recommend that people living in the South Waterfront, John's Landing, Dunthorpe, Riverdale, and Lake Oswego area pay attention to this process and get involved. Feel free to leave any comments or opinions about the project here on my blog! Click the image below for the full report.
